Unlocking Wellness: The Benefits of Spinal Postural Screening & How it Works?
We all acquire both good and bad habits during our lives, whether it’s hunching over a computer for hours a day or doing daily exercises to maintain correct posture. An assessment will bring attention to the habits that are harming your posture.
In our fast-paced and increasingly sedentary lifestyle, maintaining optimal spinal health is essential for overall well-being. The human spine plays a crucial role in supporting the body, protecting the nervous system, and facilitating movement. However, poor posture and spinal stiffening have become prevalent, leading to various health issues.
So what are some key benefits of getting your posture checked?
Improved Spinal Health:
By undergoing spinal postural screening, individuals gain a deeper understanding of their current spinal health status. The screening process evaluates the alignment of the vertebrae, the curvature of the spine, and the symmetry of the body.
Enhanced Pain Management:
By identifying the root cause of the pain through spinal postural screening, healthcare professionals can develop tailored treatment plans. These plans may include chiropractic adjustments, physical therapy, strengthening exercises, or ergonomic adjustments. Through targeted exercises, stretches, and lifestyle modifications, individuals can work towards restoring proper alignment, reducing discomfort, and enhancing overall spinal function. By addressing the underlying spinal issues, individuals can experience significant pain reduction and improved quality of life.
Prevention of Future Health Issues:
The saying “prevention is better than cure” holds true when it comes to spinal health. Spinal postural screening can help identify early signs of spinal conditions such as scoliosis, joint degeneration, nerve compression, and muscular imbalances. These conditions in their initial stages allow for timely intervention, preventing the progression of the condition and potential complications.
Enhanced Performance and Function:
Optimal spinal health is crucial for individuals who engage in physical activities or have physically demanding occupations. Spinal postural screening can identify areas of weakness, imbalance, or restricted mobility that may hinder performance. By addressing these limitations through targeted interventions, individuals can optimize their spinal function, improve their athletic performance, and reduce the risk of injuries.
How does it work?
Our chiropractors will start the assessment by using a posture screen application (app) to take a picture of you from different angles. The app helps to accurately measure angles and linear distances of posture misalignments and displacements and documents it for clinical assessments.
Then, they will analyse and explain your results of how your body is functioning and moving in regard to your current posture. If time allows, our chiropractors might perform motion palpation on you to find any underlying joint restrictions. They will address the corrections that are needed and will advise on what you can do to make it better. You will also get an electronic copy of the posture analysis sent after your appointment.
